SUMMARY:

  • When times get tough, the tough get...creative. That’s how Fort Myers Toyota responded to the economic downturn that has rocked central Florida.

Fort Myers, FLORIDA--March 4th, 2010--Fort Myers Toyota Rocks Around the Clock in Rocking Chairs for its ROCK For Charity, ROLL with a Ride (tm) Rocking Chair Marathon.

WHO: Fort Myers Toyota along with 14 Health & Human Service Charities, 28 Rockers, and numerous Broadcast Media Partners held the dealership’s first “Rock for Charity, Roll with a Ride” rocking chair marathon that aimed to raise awareness and funds for 14 local charities, while also generating publicity for the dealership. When Pamela Templeton kicked off the promotion in September, little did she know the extent to which the event would achieve its objectives.

WHAT: “It was an amazing thing,” says Templeton. “It definitely drew a crowd to the dealership. Once people figured out what was going on, they became invested in it. In the end, six people actually made it the full 72 hours, which is just unheard of for something like this. I’m convinced the involvement of the charities made the difference. The contestants’ grit and determination were very humbling.”

Fort Myers Toyota offered up a new Matrix to the rocker who survived to the end and a new Sienna to the charity the rocker represented. Since six contestants went the distance, the winner had to be decided by blind drawing. Richard Irvin, representing Good Wheels (which provides special-needs transportation to the elderly, disabled, and less-fortunate in Lee, Hendry, and Glades counties), prevailed.

Toyota Auto Parts, Repair and Service Center has been named January 2010 Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) Dealership of the Month

02/24/2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Summary:

  • Toyota Auto Parts, Repair and Service Center, Wilfred Templeton, and Service Director Gary Meyer have been named January 2010 Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) Dealership of the Month.

FORT MYERS, Florida--February 24, 2010-- Toyota Auto Parts, Repair, and Service Center, Wilfred Templeton, and Service Director Gary Meyer of Fort Myers Toyota, "The Family Store," have been named January 2010 Automotive Youth Educational Systems (AYES) Dealership of the Month.

Mr. Gary Myers has worked for Fort Myers Toyota for 16 years and in that time the service department has expanded from just six technicians to 94 technicians and increased the number of service bays to 105. Fort Myers Toyota Service department is ranked number one in customer-paid repairs in the Southeast Toyota 5 State region and is a consistent leader in customer satisfaction (CSI) scores for large dealerships.

The AYES program that partners with participating automotive manufacturers, dealerships and select automotive programs is designed to encourage young people to start careers in retail automotive service and prepare them for entry-level career positions or advanced studies in automotive technology. Active program affiliations exist nationwide in nearly all states and they have over 600 instructors.

Lee County High Tech Center Central became affiliated with AYES in 2001 and has employed about 20 AYES interns since then; three of which are still working at Fort Myers Toyota. Says Meyer, "I do much less hiring off the street, since I don’t know their training or background. I get pretty much all our entry-level techs through the program. With the AYES students, though, I know the quality of training they receive [at Lee County High Tech Center Central] with Marc."
